Where This Journey Began
In 2023, I ran for the Livingston Board of Education for the first time with a simple belief: strong public schools are built when we listen, work together, and keep students at the center of every decision.
Who I Was
I had called Livingston home since 2010 and was raising two young children in Livingston Public Schools. My background in public administration, project management, higher education, and international education was complemented by years of hands-on involvement in our schools and community, including school HSA, equity and multicultural initiatives, parent engagement, and broader community service. I entered the race as a parent, neighbor, community volunteer, and lifelong learner ready to serve.
Why I Ran
For years, my own children had been my highest priority. Running for the Board of Education was a commitment to extend that same care and dedication to every student in Livingston. My values were shaped by two traditions I deeply believe in: the Chinese principle of doing good without expecting something in return, and the American spirit of “paying it forward.” I wanted to listen, learn, collaborate, and help strengthen the schools and community that had given so much to my own family.
What I Cared About
My 2023 campaign was built around three words: Excellence • Empathy • Equity
I advocated for strong academic opportunities and student outcomes; support for excellent educators; equity and inclusion for students with different backgrounds and needs; stronger communication among the Board, schools, families, and community; and thoughtful, long-term planning for Livingston’s future.
Above all, I believed an effective Board member should listen carefully, collaborate constructively, and keep students at the heart of every decision.

Thank You, Livingston
That victory was never mine alone.
It belonged to the neighbors who opened their doors, the volunteers who walked the streets, the friends who called and texted, the families who displayed lawn signs, and every resident who took the time to learn about the candidates and cast a vote.
I was deeply grateful for the trust Livingston placed in me. I also understood that winning an election was not the destination—it was the beginning of the work I had asked the community to entrust me to do.
