It's essential to emphasize the importance of standing by NJ state law, LPS school district bylaws, and most importantly, trusting our educators implicitly in the selection process of educational materials. As part of this commitment, I recently took a significant step by signing the Pledge by Action Together New Jersey. This pledge commits to:
1. Believing in public schools and protecting public education for all kids.
2. Supporting our teachers wholeheartedly.
3. Standing firmly against book banning.
While we firmly stand by the authority of educators in this process, it's also vital to acknowledge the rights and concerns of parents.
Educator Side:
Educators, as stewards of our children's education, are on the front lines of the book ban debate. They are not just knowledgeable but deeply committed to the well-being and intellectual growth of their students. In this regard, it is non-negotiable that we trust them implicitly when it comes to selecting the materials that align with curriculum goals and educational standards.
