The significant challenge any Board of Education member will face is cultivating a broad understanding within our community about our distinct responsibilities. Our role is to shape policies, allocate budgets, and hire and evaluate the superintendent, avoiding intervening in the daily administration of schools. Enhancing understanding in these areas can help dispel frustrations, increase transparency, and construct a stronger, more unified community.
To effectively address this, my focus will be on fostering open, friendly dialogues, offering a caring ear, and providing clear, accessible, and straightforward guidance. I believe in advising community members of the proper channels and encouraging direct and transparent communication with the corresponding departments, fundamental in building trust. I’m passionate about fostering an environment of mutual respect and understanding, ensuring every individual in our community feels heard and valued. I'm also keen on encouraging active participation in Board of Education meetings, either in person or online, and urging utilization of resources like recorded meeting videos to stay informed.
Being a stay-at-home mom provides me the flexibility to be readily available to meet with community members and facilitate open and inclusive discussions about our duties and expectations. This dedication to transparency and accessibility is essential to maintaining an informed, cohesive community and fostering a sense of unity and shared purpose.
In conclusion, unwavering adherence to laws, rules, and ethical guidelines is a paramount priority for me. Beyond being a potential board member, I am a mother, a neighbor, and a friend, persistently advocating for excellence, empathy, and equity. My steadfast promise is to uphold the integrity and empathetic spirit of our educational system, ensuring every member of our community feels valued, appreciated, and understood, fostering a thriving educational environment.
